Hello, I'm Laura Elizondo, a licensed psychologist in Costa Rica (professional license #11987), based in San Antonio de Escazú, San José, Costa Rica.

Many of the people I work with are navigating moments of change—feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or uncertain about their next step. Therapy offers a space to slow down, make sense of what you're experiencing, and begin moving forward with greater clarity and intention.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based practices. I aim to create a space where you can feel safe to explore your story, understand your patterns, and develop tools that genuinely support your well-being.

Having grown up between Costa Rica and Italy, I bring a deep sensitivity to cultural differences, the experience of living between worlds, and the challenges of identity, belonging, and transition.

Each therapeutic process is adapted to your history, your needs, and your pace. My priority is that you feel heard, understood, and supported throughout the process.

Individual Therapy for Adults

I work with individuals who are navigating moments of change, crisis, or personal growth. Together, we explore what you're experiencing and develop tools that help you move forward with greater clarity and well-being.

Some of the areas we may work on include:

  • Anxiety, chronic stress, or emotional exhaustion (burnout)
  • Grief or significant loss
  • Past experiences that continue to impact the present
  • Life transitions (career changes, relocation, separation)
  • Relationship difficulties or attachment patterns
  • Questions around identity, purpose, or life direction

Therapy for Adolescents

Adolescence is a time of significant change and can often feel intense or confusing. I offer a safe space where young people can better understand their emotions, express their experiences, and develop tools to navigate their challenges.

I work with areas such as:

  • Difficulties with attention or concentration
  • Emotional regulation and challenging behaviors
  • Experiences of bullying or social exclusion
  • Anxiety, insecurity, and family or peer conflicts
  • Identity-related processes typical of this stage

Therapy for Expatriates in Costa Rica

Living in another country can be deeply enriching, but also challenging. I support individuals who are going through the migration process or living between cultures, offering a space to understand and navigate these transitions.

Common areas we explore include:

  • Cultural adaptation and "culture shock"
  • Feelings of isolation or disconnection
  • Identity shifts while living abroad
  • Family transitions in a new environment

My approach is integrative and oriented toward both deep understanding and meaningful, lasting change. In our sessions, we will focus on:

Understanding your inner patterns

We explore your emotional patterns, reactions, and the story behind them—so you can gain clarity about what you're experiencing and why.

Developing practical tools

You will learn concrete strategies to regulate emotions, navigate difficult moments, and respond to challenges in a more grounded and intentional way.

Creating lasting change

Together, we work toward changes that feel sustainable—helping you move forward with greater clarity, resilience, and confidence beyond the therapy space.

You can expect a space that is:

Warm and non-judgmental Culturally sensitive Collaborative and respectful of your pace
